pavers gone

I got rid of the pavers on Tuesday so all that remains to do is get rid of some limestone blocks (which are not in the way), a large bin which is nearly full and to plant the remaining plants. The planting should occur tomorrow.

If the blocks are still on the garden on Monday they will be going in the Bin which will then get removed next week.

We had a site meeting today with an electrician who is going to provide a quote (and then install) for some garden lighting. I dont expect this to be cheap (probably cost another $1000-2000) but it will just add one more (and a final) dimension to this garden.

I was planning to dig up the front verge and re-plant it, but given that we could have another car here (and it will need somewhere to park) I might leave it till just before spring and then do it.

Pavers nearly gone

all of the paving blocks i removed from inside the courtyard and stacked out the front are nearly gone.

I put a sign on them last Thursday and within an hour an older lady (late 50s - early 60s) came and asked for them. the only catch was that she wanted to leave them in my yard until mid-may. response was sorry they need to be gone by next weekend or they are going in a bin. In the end i agreed to help her move them, so i will now have handled each one of them 4 times by the time they have all been moved tomorrow.

once they are gone we will get the front yard finished.

Garden - Finished

to all intents and purposes the courtyard garden is now finished. there are still a couple of plants to put in and a crack in the paving to repair but otherwise, except for the plants growing, it is now done. HOORAY.

Here are some final shots of the redevelopment phase. I will post some more in future when things start to grow/change. Thank you Paul, Lorna and Cathy (and me) for your efforts/ideas.

Paul having a rest after getting the job done. Pick the buddha.

We have grass and some nice statues

Herbs for the pot (Rosemary)

We have a pond. The Frangipani is looking a bit stressed but it will be lovely when it recovers.

Lorna and Cathy - they liked "their" garden.

I am sure we will now get new enjoyment out of this space and i am sure it will add value to our house.

getting close

More progress has been made over the past few days and we now nearly have our garden back.

this is the front garden - all that is required here now is for the grass to be planted (that will happen tomorrow)

the pond is now in place and all that is required here is for a pump to be installed and for the plants around it to be planted.

the aim now is to have a climber climb on the wires and to turn the wall "green"

The final acts will take place this week. Out the front i still need to get rid of the paving blocks before we can plant the "plum" trees and finish it off. this might take another week or so

There is still some work to do, but we have some plants and the mosaics have be relocated. I have a couple more but i need to work out what to do with them.

Still not much done

Paul was unwell the back end of last week and it poured down with rain here all day yesterday so no work got done. Paul was here for a few hours today. All the plants are now here, but we are still waiting for the pond base.
